The painter Herman Paradies, who died in 1966, is known by many Rotterdammers and Schiedammers. Painted, water-colored and drew cityscapes in old parts of Rotterdam and Schiedam. His work shows a lot of affinity with his contemporary J.H. van Mastenbroek. Both were full cousins. His work also found its way to America, something Paradies, looking back on his career, was very proud of. Many collectors in Rotterdam and Schiedam have his work hanging on the wall. He was a member of the Schiedam artists’ community.
