On 16 April 1819, artist and painter Arij Pleijsier was born in Vlaardingen. He left behind a legacy of paintings, art and watercolours, including many naval scenes and city and river landscapes. His paintings can be found in leading museums in the Netherlands and abroad. Attached is an image of a similar work by the painter.
