Leendert van der Vlist (Numansdorp 1894-1962 Voorburg) had everything to become a successful painter. Aanleg, a good teacher in the person of Willem de Zwart, and the happiness that his talent was recognized early. He was awarded a royal subsidy in 1913 and 25 years later, in 1938, he won the 1st prize from the Willink van Collenfonds. Especially in the period 1924-1930, gray tones make way for a clear palette.
