Lived and worked in The Hague and proved very artistic at a young age. At the age of 12 he accompanied his father to paint outside together. He was also very musical and played excellent violin. But H. v.d. Weele advised him to study at the Academy of Fine Arts instead of the conservatory. He also received lessons from Weissenbruch and W. de Zwart, who regularly visited his studio. He was a painter and aquarellist of still lifes, but mainly many cityscapes that are particularly good in color. He was a member of Pulchri studio and one of the founders of the association of Hague Aquarellists. He made many trips to Belgium, France, Germany and Spain and had many successful exhibitions.
